Our Story

Realizing the lack of quality speech and language therapy in her community, Liza Herrera began a speech clinic in a small 1300 square foot building in 2007. Shortly after opening, the small facility could not accommodate the flood of clients. Two expansions later and a partnership with Angela Benes-Swanson in 2010, pairing 40 years of combined knowledge in the field, Wings Speech and Language has continued to lead the charge of pediatric speech and language remediation therapy in the Inland Empire.

At Wings Speech & Language, our mission is to provide the highest quality speech and language services to our clients and their families to build lifelong communication through the power of play-based therapy, socialization, and cutting edge technology. Our goal is to focus beyond the physical and creatively design an individual treatment plan serving not only the child but the family as a whole. Our entire team, from our office staff to speech therapist, blend a variety of knowledge and unique background to help provide the best experience for everyone we serve.

Our Leaders

Liza Herrera

Owner / SPLA

Since the late 1970’s Liza Herrera has worked in the field of special education beginning with providing respite care for families of children with autism. She was a Lovaas trained ABA Interventionist before becoming a Speech and Language Pathology Assistant.

Liza felt led to open her own speech practice to better serve the needs of her community.  With the support of her husband and family, Liza opened a small speech building alongside three other speech therapists. It has been growing ever since.

Liza says her success with Wings Speech is due to her faith and full belief she is following a calling to serve others in the special needs community.

Angela Benes- Swanson

 Owner / SLP-CCC

Angela Benes- Swanson began her journey into the speech world as an Instructional Aide with special education high school students. She felt a personal calling to continue serving the needs of her students and others struggling to find their voice.

Angela completed her undergraduate and  coursework in Communication Disorders followed by her Masters Program at the University of Redlands to become a Speech-Language Pathologist. Following her Masters, she studied Behavioral Sciences as well.
